Dense Planting Consultants

Globalization and International Competition require cultivation with new methods so as to increase production and quality while at the same time reducing production costs.

The entry into the 21st century marked a new era, in which the abolition of trade borders became a reality. In other words, the phenomenon of globalization took place and is taking place. One of the first sectors to be affected by this phenomenon was primary production, i.e. the agricultural sector. So in this globalized market, whose main and strong characteristic is competitiveness, the question that arises is the following:
Can the Greek Farmer be Sustainable?

The Greek farmer can not only be sustainable, but also have a bright future, as long as he understands and believes that this comes through knowledge. Knowledge in the youngest power! If he does not realize that his future is through knowledge, and continues to believe that it is through inputs (chemicals, plant protection products) then his future is uncertain and ominous. The Greek farmer should therefore follow the developments and new trends in agriculture, which want the farmer as an entrepreneur and the agricultural holding as a business.

We believe that the present and future of Greek agriculture is based on the technique of dense planting. It is a new method of cultivation that has been tested and applied with great success throughout Europe (especially in Italy) in the last 15-20 years, and now also in our country (Giannitsa, Flamouria - Kerasia of Edessa, Pyrgoi of Kozani, Rodochori - Episkopi Imathias, Domokos Fthiotidas, etc.) many producers follow this method of cultivation, having visible and immediate results.

The threefold success of this farming method is:
  1. More production per hectare (more trees per hectare)
  2. Better quality product (production near the central axis - better lighting)
  3. Lower costs (pruning, thinning, harvesting, spraying)
In the table below, some of the differences between the traditional and the new way of planting in the cultivation of apple and cherry trees can be seen indicatively:
